All Good Things …..

This morning we disembarked from the Sinfonia to start making our way back to Rome, but not without having some fun last night.

The karaoke last night was a really big bash; they had a live band playing the music for all the songs. Not only that… Cliff finally got up to sing a song.

But the finale of the show was a performance by our new friends from Australia. Lily and her cousin William hit it out of the park!

Disembarkation was extremely simple — we decided to carry off our luggage to get an early start — and we got to the train station in Bari within 30 minutes from getting off the ship. That meant we had to spend a couple hours waiting for our train, but we all had some coffee or hot chocolate and made the best of it.

We were on the high-speed train from Bari to Rome, which took about four hours. It was a very comfortable ride and we played cards along the way. This was also a trip we took mostly in the dark on the way to Bari, so it was nice to be able to see the countryside as we made the trip.

About midway along the trip, Jim noticed that an older couple was having difficulty charging their phone so he offered a charging battery for them to use. They were very grateful. They didn’t speak a lick of English, but that didn’t stop the woman from trying to spark a conversation with us. With what little Italian we know and with our phones, we tried to do some interpretation. She was quite the character and kept trying to tell us about how her husband used to be very handsome but now he’s 84 years old and not everything works right. She was sharing a little bit too much information. 🤣

Once we got back to Roma Termini (the central Rome train station), we caught a cab to our hotel, which is not far from the airport. We spent our last night having dinner at a restaurant across the street from the hotel. I think all of us are definitely sad our experience has come to an end, but are also looking forward to being home with family.

Ciao!
